In recent days reports have surfaced that Oprah has lost about 7% of her viewership, her magazine sales are down, and her reality TV show won't be renewed next season. Now everyone is wondering if coming out politically for Barack Obama has caused a backlash in her overall numbers. We can take Oprah's current numbers scenario and apply it to our lives. Every time we write a blog post, we have to understand that everyone is not going to fully agree with what we've written, particularly if something we've posted is rather controversial or highly opinionated. We may even lose readers and our blog stats may begin looking a little unfruitful.
The lesson we can all glean from Oprah is to always stay true to ourselves and stick to our guns as bloggers. Without question, it is a blogger's authenticity and confidence that fuels readership, even if that means some readers will defect along the way.

So true and well said. You certainly can't please everyone.
I needed to read this post today! Thanks Jennifer. :)
I agree you can't please everyone but you have to be true to yourself. Folks always have a choice if you don't agree you don't have to watch or read though.
Thanks for that. I always worry about making people mad about what I might say about their product. It's best to say the truth.
Nope you can't.
However, Oprah has gone off the bloody deep end...she's really strayed from the person she used to be and this has turned people right off.
So, I agree it is important to stand your ground as who you are and not change to gain readership, viewership, whatever. Which she hasn't done either...so good for her. Not that I'm a fan. But still...good for her.
